COC Recorded Their Entire New Album With Zero Isolation | Corrosion of Conformity
May 19, 2026
Pepper Keenan and Woody Weatherman of Corrosion of
Conformity on one of the most unconventional recording
decisions behind Good God / Baad Man — tracking the
entire album with no isolation booth and no control room.
Amps everywhere. Every guitar they owned in the room.
Cabinets everywhere. Mattresses leaned against the
walls down the hall. No silent room to listen back in.
No way to know if a take was good until they stopped,
rewound the tape, and listened.
Most modern rock records are made in the opposite
direction — carefully controlled environments, isolated
tracking, perfect separation between instruments. COC
went the other way entirely. Everything bleeding into
everything else. The room as part of the sound. And
it shows up in the record exactly the way you'd hope
it would.
