The Black Crowes Made A Pound of Feathers in 8 Days -w/Becky Franzel| The Sonic Road Podcast
May 2, 2026
Beau and returning guest Becky Franzel — Milwaukee author
and lifelong rock fan — dig into The Black Crowes' tenth studio
album A Pound of Feathers, released March 13, 2026 on the band's
own Silver Arrow Records label.
The standout detail: the Robinson brothers recorded the whole
thing in eight to ten days with producer Jay Joyce — the same
producer behind their Grammy-nominated 2024 album Happiness
Bastards. Writing on instinct, working fast, and letting the
spontaneity of the room drive the sessions. For a band four
decades into their career, that approach says something
meaningful about where they are creatively right now.
Becky shares her take on the album — what works, what it sounds
like relative to Happiness Bastards, and whether the speed of
recording shows up in the final product.
